The AKG Microphone

AN AKG MICROPHONE is a somewhat less popular choice but the one that I use is worth every penny I paid for it. I don’t remember how much that was but I do know it was comparable to the price of a Shure.

The one that I use is a D880M. I’ve been told several times offhandedly by sound techs that it is a pretty "hot" microphone. I’ve been very happy with it. Its’ sound is crisp and clean and its’ range of sound pickup is such that I can move around a little on stage without compromising the volume of my voice at any time. You can’t be three feet away from it mind you, but if you’re anywhere near the mouthpiece then your voice will be picked up.

My AKG MICROPHONE is the only one that I have ever used personally but they do have other mics available that I’m sure are very good quality as well. The only other ones I’ve ever heard have been instrument mics and they too sounded just great!

Like everything else though, you should make an effort to do some side by side comparisons. When the prices are similar you can bet that the sound quality will be comparable so use your own ears to decide what’s the best microphone for you and be sure to get feedback from knowledgeable people like the senior sales staff to help make your decision.

We were so happy with the sound of my AKG MICROPHONE that all the backup singers in the band I was in at the time used AKG’s exclusively for their vocals as well. As far as I know those guys are still using theirs.

I don’t buy too much in the way of instrument mics as the venues I perform at usually supply a sound tech and a good PA system so I really can’t comment too much other than the ones I have heard from AKG sound excellent.
