Backing Tracks… The use of
backing tracks is something that I myself have recently become involved with
and to be honest, I think they’re great whether you’re a person that wants to
learn to sing, or you’re a seasoned performer wanting to put on a show that
has a bit of an edge over the competition in your music scene. For the karaoke singer these tracks are basically a complete
song, usually available as a download. They may even come with backing vocals
if you request them in that manner, but with the lead vocal line left out so
that you can do the singing.
If you’re already in a band then backing
tracks are a way for your show to have a competitive advantage over other
bands. This is accomplished by the tracks offering keyboard or horn parts or
any other instrument, even backing vocals if need be, without you having to
go out to find a person to play those parts. I play in a rock band and much
of the music we play does not require a keyboard player, therefore it’s not
practical to hire one to play for just a handful of songs we require from him
over the course of a show. We use backing tracks to fill in those parts. If you’re a
person that wishes to learn how to sing then backing tracks are the way to go
as far singing anything other than
exercises. The songs are available as MP3 downloads and there are allsorts of
companies offering the service. Of course I’ve spent my own time and money trying to find the
best companies on the web that deal with tracks and can tell
you that there are more than a few. However only a few offer both a good
product and good customer service. I have e-mailed numerous companies with
specific request and have found only two that respond in a timely manner. The
rest have still not been in touch with me. Among the
best I’ve found is a site called the Song
Galaxy . They have both a quality product that is easy to download and
their customer service is quick and courteous. It’s a great site! They have an excellent array of audio samples
so you can hear before you buy and they have other downloadable products that
are excellent as well. Recently I bought their MP3 Key Changer and it has
been a Godsend for my purposes. I use it to change the key of songs that I’m
learning quickly and easily to match what I need for the tuning I use when I
perform. You can use it to tune a song to your voice. Send them an
e-mail with a question and I bet you get a reply within the day. The other
